Sex and the City sequel to feature Sopranos characters

Sexsopranos HBO is having a hard time deciding which to greenlight first: a sequel to the hit "Sex and the CIty" film or the much demanded feature version of "The Sopranos." So instead of choosing, it's putting them both together!

In an exclusive interview with Dateline Hollywood at the Television Critics Assn. meeting, HBO head Richard Plepler said HBO is moving ahead with "Sex and the City 2: Carrie Gets Whacked," co-written by "Sex" producer Michael Patrick King and "Sopranos" creator David Chase.

Insiders said the film will feature Tony Soprano and his crew attempting to extend their territory into Manhattan. But when the family tries to take over Carrie's favorite Manolo Blahnik store, the "Sex and the City" girls declare all-out war on the Soprano family in order to save their favorite designer shoe shopping destination. Violence, seduction, and catty voice overs ensue.

Plepler wouldn't confirm whether "whacked" in the title refers to Sarah Jessica Parker's character getting murdered or is a sexual double entendre. Mmmmm, we'll be there to find out.

Sex and the City success spurs talk of Arliss movie

Arliss Now that the film adaptation of HBO's "Sex and the City" has smashed box office records this weekend by grossing an astonishing $56 million, "Arli$$" star Robert Wuhl is hoping to follow in Sarah Jessica Parker's dainty footsteps.

The buzz in Hollywood is that Wuhl, who played sports super agent Arliss Michaels on his own HBO show for three seasons, is preparing to take out a script for a feature film version of "Arli$$: the Art of the Sports Super Agent." In an exclusive interview with Dateline Hollywood, Wuhl confirmed the rumor is true.

"I've had this script in my pocket ready to go for a decade and finally the time is right," Wuhl confirmed during a short break in his busy gardening schedule. "If 'Sex and the City' was a hit with only women attending, imagine how much money a movie based on 'Arliss,' which was regularly viewed by several dozen men and women every time it aired, could make."

Wuhl added that he has commitments from sports mega-stars Tommy Lasorda and Bob Eucker to make guest appearances in the film.

Hollywood shocked to discover women will go to movies made for them

Sexcitymovie Film studio executives expressed total shock on Sunday as the $56 million opening of the "Sex and the City" movie demonstrated that, just like men, women will attend movies that they find interesting and appealing. Most Hollywood pro's expected the film to make less than $30 million.

"For nearly a century our entire business has been built on the idea that men are the ones who go to movies and women only go if they're on a date or want to keep their kids occupied," said Warner Bros. president Alan Horn. "Women going to movies without men just because the movie is interesting to them -- this is a revolutionary concept. I'm beyond flabbergasted."

Like many of his fellow studio heads, Horn said he's now considering following "Sex and the City's" example and making movies that women will find appealing on a regular basis. However, not everyone agrees.

"Hopefully this will be like after 'How Stella Got Her Groove Back' when everybody started saying we should make more movies for Black people and then we totally forgot about it," said Fox senior vice president of production Adam Kalsten. "We need to forget about all this chick stuff and get back to making real movies like '300' and 'Transformers.'"

Men planning to cheat during 'Sex and the City' weekend

SexcityThis weekend is shaping up to be all about "Sex and the City" at U.S. theaters, with an online ticket agency finding nearly 70 percent of women are planning special group outings to see the movie. A USA Today poll found that 98 percent of husbands and boyfriends who won't be seeing the movie plan to cheat on them. The poll shows that most of the men plan on "banging some whores" over the weekend. Single men are also excited about the movie, expecting horny women to hit bars and nightclubs following the movie.

Sex and the City Wii videogame revealed!

Sexcitygamebottom_2 Dateline Hollywood has uncovered exclusive details on the videogame tie-in to the "Sex and the City" movie coming out later this month.

The title will be available exclusively for Nintendo's Wii and is being developed and published by Rockstar, the company behind the ultra popular "Grand Theft Auto IV." It will be rated M for "intense sexuality."

The main character of the "Sex and the City" game will be Kim Catrall's Samantha. Players assist in her quest to bed 100 men before she turns 50 without developing any life threatening sexually transmitted diseases.

"We're very excited about the innovative ways players can use the motion sensing Wii controller to simulate Samantha's sexual life and earn bonus points for pulling off special 'finishing moves,'" said Rockstar president Sam Houser. "Let's just say that the Wii-mote will be going places it has never been before.

"Sex and the City: the Videogame" will also allow players to go online, where they must spread the STD of their choice -- options include herpes, gonorrhea, crabs, and HIV -- to as many other others as possible in under five minutes.
