Katherine Heigl picks up Emmy nod despite withdrawing name
She criticized the low-quality scripts of "Grey's Anatomy" and withdrew her name for Emmy contention, but Katherine Heigl still picked up an acting nomination today. How is that possible? Apparently Emmy voters decided she should get an Emmy nomination as a write-in nominee. One Emmy voter tells Dateline Hollywood:
"She wanted to withdraw her name from Emmy contention, but we, as responsible television voters, could not let that tragedy unfold before us. Katherine is such a talented actress who should not be left out. Anyone who has seen her on the big screen in the film 'Knocked Up' knows what an incredible range she has. Sorry, Katherine, you're just too an important of an actress to be left out."
Heigl has had no response to her surprise Emmy nomination. But in another development, Heigl has withdrawn her name from Oscar contention for her role in the film "27 Dresses," citing poor writing.
