Is Charlie Sheen being sarcastic about being 'thrilled' over twin babies?
Charlie Sheen is "thrilled" that he will be a dad to twin boys in April. Sheen made the statement to People magazine, but several entertainment news outlets, have been unable to confirm if the actor was being serious or completely sarcastic.
"Oh yeah, I am so thrilled that I'm going to be the father to twin boys. Things could not be better," said Sheen to the magazine.
"It's difficult to tell with the written word if someone is being sarcastic or not," said Prof. Mark Walters, a sarcasm expert at Bellford College. "I can definitely see how it may read as sarcastic. But he may also be truly thrilled."
Sheen also said, "I can't wait to help change diapers. I can't wait. My life has turned out just the way I wanted it to. I really hope no one pinches me because I am living a dream."
As for that statement, Prof. Walters says, "It's also very tricky to determine if that was sarcastic or not. These are tough examples. I mean, I'm glad you contacted me to examine these statements. I have nothing else better to do. And I'm not being sarcastic."
