CBS reaffirms network's commitment to low news ratings

CouricratingsCBS News President Sean McManus has he reaffirmed his commitment to low ratings for the "CBS Evening News" by saying that anchor Katie Couric will stay with the newscast. "CBS Evening News" still lags far behind its competitors on NBC and ABC.  Mcmanus had this to say:

"We've decided that we're very comfortable in third place and if Katie Couric left the newscast, we would see a ratings spike, but we're not prepared to do that."

Although it has not been confirmed yet, there are reports that CBS will attempt to lower ratings even further by having Connie Chung co-anchor the newscast with Couric and adding a special commentary section with Phil Donahue.
