Grand Theft Auto IV blamed for low ratings of Today Show fourth hour
While all of Hollywood is buzzing over whether the launch of huge videogame "Grand Theft Auto IV" will impact "Iron Man's" box office this weekend, the producers of "The Today Show's" new fourth hour starring Kathie Lee Gifford say they're feeling the impact.
"We've all been surprised that the ratings for the compelling new addition to 'Today' starring me, one of America's most beloved TV stars, haven't been better," Gifford told Dateline Hollywood. "But I just read an article about that 'Grand Theft Auto Show' game and how it's distracting audiences and it makes total sense. What other explanation could there be why my show isn't a big
hit?!"
Asked whether such a scenario would be unlikely given the predominantly young male audience that plays videogames and the mostly female demographic watching TV late in the morning, Gifford declined to explain the connection.
"All I know is that someone said videogames are a way to explain any movie or TV show that isn't succeeding and I completely agree," she stated.
